Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Monthly Tuition Plan work?

Holistic Music operates on a monthly flat-fee model for tuition fees. This is to make payments streamlined, stable and predictable for all. It also reflects the nature of effective music tuition as being a long-term commitment.

The tuition fees are calculated over the full year, then distributed over 12 equal monthly instalments. This means payments do not reflect how many lessons are received in a given month, they just balance out over the year to cover the full annual tuition fees.

It follows the same principle as a payment plan for higher education fees. This is based on a ‘lesson-year’ of 40 lesson-weeks for this program, as we break for school holidays. Occasionally, we may make up a session in the holidays if one needed cancelling due to my absence.

You can read more about our tuition pricing and studio policy here.

What if I go away and miss sessions?

With group sessions, unfortunately make up lessons are not available, as the session goes ahead without you anyway. If you are planning an extended absence, you have the option of pausing your tuition plan for one month. Otherwise, you are free to cancel your membership with 30 days notice and rejoin at a later stage.

What if I've never had any music lessons before?

It is never "too late" to learn music. Learning an instrument, or singing, is a great way to keep yourself engaged with learning at any age, as the process of learning something new is always good for us! Music can be that thing you do to exercise your mind, your body, and to carve out time in your life to connect with yourself, your inner world, and your joy.

We have a flexible and gentle approach, so you will never feel judged or compared to someone else. Your musical journey is your own, and we are here to support you.

What is your availability?

With the Holistic Singing Sessions, we are currently only running them on Saturday mornings. Future extra classes may open up if there is the demand.

For individual tuition, the best way to see if there is availability that suits your schedule is to check the calendar on the booking page. You can view the calendar without making payment, to ensure you can find a suitable time before proceeding. If you can't see a suitable time on the calendar, you can contact us to see if there is anything we can do behind the scenes to free up a time.

Are group lessons really effective?

There are many benefits to group lessons that you don't get in 1:1 settings. Group music and singing sessions create a community atmosphere that increases enjoyment, motivation, connection and purpose in your singing and music practice. It can also give more perspective and encouragement on your journey to share it with others and experience how your challenges are not limited to you and are in fact shared by others. There are also many skills and capacities that everyone needs to develop, and sharing that journey with others can be illuminating and rewarding. It has also been proven that group lessons can even increase progress and enrich the experience of learning music. And ultimately, music is a social language that is meant to be learnt socially and shared, just like our spoken languages.
